This week in Independent Study and Mentorship, all the ISM students in the district displayed their topics of study and accomplishments to those who attended the Research Showcase. I presented my board, Original Work, and Research Portfolio (contains all the work I have done throughout the year including interviews, assessments, OW, and more). Visitors were able to see how much I was able to get done throughout half the year and where my direction is for the future. It was all one large learning experience as I was able to see other's topics and learn more about them. Some students were studying neurosurgery while others were focusing on real estate and seeing these many fields showed me that there are endless options an individual could take. This world is not limited. A person can be anything, and they can be many things at once. Whether it be running a business while taking on a part-time job in order to bring in extra income, the possibilities are inexhaustible. Through presenting my topic of study and showcasing my research to individuals, I was able to work on my opening pitch and find ways to obtain other's attention. My mentor gave me advice and I worked on it throughout the night on ways to be more effective in getting my message across without losing attention. Overall, the Research Showcase was a huge success and I cannot wait for what the rest of the year holds.
