This week in Independent Study and Mentorship, I went on an interview with Mike Orren who had founded companies in the past and is a part of the Dallas Entrepreneurs' Center (DEC). He now runs a marketing/advertising company and had many significant details to share. Through asking some detailed questions to him, I was able to focus in on one aspect of entrepreneurship that I would need to refine in order to grow my business. He said that the best method of advertising would be word of mouth. This made me realize that even in my daily life, when people (friends/family) advertise products directly to my face, I am more inclined to purchase them and spread the word myself. When I start my business in the future, I will need to begin by spreading the word and then invest on online advertising after the business grows. Later in the week, I had my mentor visit with Joshua Meek. I finally thought of a potential idea for my original work which is something in the realm of franchising. In the future, I see myself becoming a franchiser as it runs through my family and I believe I would be happy doing that. This year, I want to gear my original work and product towards building to my future and helping me get a plan set up for the next few years.
